My work is about trying to capture the energy of the sitter, using the expressive qualities of paint while working from life. The portrait is of artist Jamie King whose work often features portraiture and mental health issues.
I studied at Edinburgh College of Art, and have exhibited throughout the UK, participating in the BP Portrait Awards exhibition, the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year and the Threadneedle Figurative Art exhibition. I have published two books of figure drawing ‘The Language of the Body’ (2012) and ‘Unstill Life’ (2017).
