I am a British photographer, currently living in Edinburgh. I use portraiture to explore contemporary queer masculinity, and the ways we see this manifest in the individual. This portrait, from the series Masc, looks to interrogate contemporary masculine identity, outside the heteronormative and hegemonic ideal. Shot in the sitter’s home, the work attempts to queer the formal portrait, reclaiming it from outdated associations with social power and gender stereotyping. I hope to celebrate the inspiring individuals who not only exist, but thrive outside the norm.
