I spent my working life in education in Scotland and abroad. Although trained in science and technology, I always had a passionate interest in art. My art education is ongoing and comes from classes at Edinburgh College of Art, the Open College of the Arts, Edinburgh Printmakers and the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. I work in drawing, painting and sculpture and the human form features heavily in my work.
‘The Shoemaker’ is a painting of a friend in his working environment and aims to link the subject to his craft. The project was started in his workplace and was completed in the studio over several weeks.
