Fiona Powell

I am a fine art graduate from the Duncan of Jordanstone College. My practice is interdisciplinary and chaotic, which works well with the unstable time frames allowed for creativity while caring for my baby son.

Being hidden, I wondered if identity can manifest in a symbolic, fluid state. The conscious and subconscious selves continue an internal journey, while the flux of a woman’s identity is revealed. Mother maiden and crone - beneath the veil I am all three at once. Through this intense imagery, I try to lay bare an internal journey, to be seen and unseen, as I cradle my son into an uncertain future.
