Graeme Wilcox

Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1993, I have continued to work as a figurative painter. My subject is usually the human figure involved in some action or emotion. I also paint portraits of friends, acquaintances and the occasional stranger with an interesting face.

I have painted Frank many times in a variety of poses. He is eighty-six, an ex-boxer and still singing with a jazz band.  This portrait is on a larger scale than the others. I wanted to communicate something of the physical presence he still projects no matter what his age and actual physical size.
