Living in Solitude
I am a Spanish photographer, currently living in Edinburgh. I believe I have a moral and social obligation to amplify the voices of those who are often unseen by the world and who suffer social exclusion. ‘Living in Solitude’ charts the lives of socially and geographically isolated women and child prostitutes in Bangladesh. Shanta is 9 years old and she will be turned into a sex worker just like her mother. She was born on Banishanta Island after her mum Khadisha fell pregnant following an encounter with an unknown customer.
