This is a series comprising of nine long-exposure self-portraits taken whilst running along the beach in Irvine on the Ayshire coast. They document my efforts, as a former athlete, to adapt to the increased demands on my body to still perform the simple act of running. They reflect the emotions that I am feeling and how my mind and body works to deal with both the aging process and health issues.
experience: 100 words max *I studied photography at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design under the guidance of the late Joseph McKenzie. Now with over 40 years’ experience of exploring photographic processes, I still like to push the camera into performing above and beyond its comfort zone. The lenses I use often soften images, making them more subtle and forgiving. This lets light and movement play a greater role.
