I am currently at work on a portrait series in response to my former employment as an Arts and Outreach Worker for learning disabled adults. Mr McCarron is one of six works (at present) from this series.
For Mr McCarron, things of importance are kept close, within reach. He is seated in a chair moved from the family home to his current home at his request. The doors that complete the painting’s shallow depth, and frame Mr McCarron, relate to issues concerning choice and the availability of opportunity for himself and for other people with disabilities.
